At Ipswich West State School teaching teams work together with guidance from the Head of Department Curriculum to collaboratively plan and moderate work whilst also using a range of data to create learning opportunities that are based on the needs of individuals and groups.

We are implementing the Australian Curriculum in all Learning Areas which includes English, Mathematics, Science, HASS (Humanities and Social Sciences), The Arts (Visual Arts, Dance, Drama and Media Arts), Technologies (Design and Technology and Digital Technologies), HPE (Health and Physical Education) and Languages (Japanese). These are all implemented from Prep to Year 6.

The Australian Curriculum is designed to develop successful learners, confident and creative individuals, and active and informed citizens. It is presented as a progression of learning from Foundation - Year 10 that makes clear to teachers, parents, students and others in the wider community what is to be taught, and the quality of learning expected of young people as they progress through school. – Australian Curriculum Website. For further information please see https://www.australiancurriculum.edu.au/

For English we are  currently collaboratively creating English units which are informed by the Australian Curriculum and guided by the needs of our school context. The Learning Areas of Mathematics, Science, HASS, Technologies, and Health all use the Curriculum into the Classroom materials created by the Queensland Department of Education.
